What should I do collection agencies won't clear negative information from my credit report?

Collection agencies have not removed negative information from my credit file even though I PAID all my credit card debts. Now what should I do I called and told them to remove the invalid information but they won't do it. What is the best way to have them clear out the junk from my file? What should I do collection agencies won't clear negative information from my credit report?Unfortantely your case is like many other I have dealt with over the years. When you pay a collection agency moneys without working out some kind of deal they aren't required to pull the information off your credit report. They are only required to mark it as a paid collection account. If you wanted it taken off your credit report you should have done what is know as a pay for delete. You will pay them the amount they claim is owed only after they agree to delete the item off your report. Always get this in wrtiting, then you can prove you had a contract with them. Verbal hear or say will not be proof enough. In the future if you have to deal with collections, get this type of deal done first, never give them payment info of any kind. This collection account will now remain on your report for atleast seven years from the day it was reported. What should I do collection agencies won't clear negative information from my credit report?
You can write to the 3 major credit reporting agencies to explain the situation and request that they remove the negative items.

The Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) allows a consumer to challenge the information on his credit report on the basis of "completeness and accuracy." When a consumer files a dispute, the credit bureaus must contact the source of the credit information (the creditor) and confirm that the information is accurate, verifiable, and not obsolete. In some circumstances, the credit bureau is required to go beyond a simple verification of the creditor's own computer record. If, within 30 days, the credit bureau has not received verification from the creditor, then the credit bureau must promptly delete the credit listing.

Negative information will be removed after seven years. You are allowed to contact the credit bureau to include an explanation of any circumstances that led you to have an outstanding debt, like losing your job or being hospitalized. What should I do collection agencies won't clear negative information from my credit report?
More details as to why wont they clear them off? You paid them, as you should be able to get a report faxed or mailed to you, that said that. Next time, (hopefully not, right?) tell them that you HAVE to have that as you want to get it of your credit report. They now this, dont worry.., and youll pay what you owe. Also, If they made you a "deal" on a lower amount, it will show as paid off, but also at the lower amount, believe it or not still affecting your Fico scores somewhat. Also, it taks about 30 days to remove an item from ALL the CRA's, so matbe it has just been done? The place to go is www.myfico.com, get your scores, and also, they can dispute anything you want, if the company didnt do their part of the bargain. Check out that site, all your questions are there. I did, got score up 180 points in 1 year! What should I do collection agencies won't clear negative information from my credit report? You may have paid your debts, but that doesn't invalidate the original late or missed payment records. Only if the original information is INCORRECT -- you did NOT miss the stated payment, or pay late, or stop paying a card with a balance, for example -- will they remove it. Simply agreeing to pay it later doesn't mean you weren't late (or whatever other issue) earlier.
This is why we need to know the credit game and the credit laws that apply to us. A credit collection agency is a third party entity and they have to follow all legal law procedures and clauses before reporting anything to anyones credit report. And if this has not been done, they do not have a right to harass you or report to the credit bureaus. The only thing that can be removed from your credit report is INCORRECT information.

Negative information, unfortunately, can stay on your report from three to seven years. Sorry, that's just the nature of the beast.

There are laws about this, you can sue them
call them back and ask to speak to someone in a higher up position, and tell them what happened.
