Do you think it restricts our worldwide perception on events, history, and culture?
Tell me your opinion. I remember they used to censor a lot of information in our history text books back in high school..including images of unclothed roman statues..lol. On a more serious note, how do you think this impacts the students trying to learn? I think it'll lead to ignorance. What are the drawbacks of censoring certain information in history books?Where does it all end - sanitizing history does nobody any favours in the long run. History is written by the victors and is rarely objective - you need to consult many sources in order to get a better perspective. If you look at the reporting of 9/11 for example it is still unclear as to exactly what happened - imagine trying to get clarity of events 300 or a thousand years ago. What are the drawbacks of censoring certain information in history books?I completely agree. They should be able to handle all of the information. After all, it is our past (which tends to repeat). I think the students can see the same, if not worse on tv. I think they should just teach it all. What are the drawbacks of censoring certain information in history books?Drawback of competitive censoring by various special interest groups. What are the drawbacks of censoring certain information in history books?
